Social Media Policy

The St. Ignace Public Library regards online social interactions equal to other information resources at our library. The library recognizes the value of social networking to connect with its patrons by providing a resource to encourage conversation with library staff and other patrons.

Comments, posts and messages are welcome on the St. Ignace Public Library social networking sites. These will be regularly monitored for content and relevancy. While the library respects the public’s right to express opinions, any post or message including the following will be removed, and the individual posting such messages will be barred from posting further messages on the library’s social networks:

  • Obscene or racist content
  • Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language
  • Libelous statements
  • Plagiarized or copy-righted material
  • Private, personal material without consent
  • Comments unrelated to the content of the forum
  • Hyperlinks to material not related to a particular discussion
  • Commercial promotions or spam
  • Organized political or religious materials and activity
  • Photos or other images that fall into any of the above categories

The St. Ignace Public Library reserves the right to edit or modify postings and comments for space and content. The library also reserves the right to reproduce comments, posts and messages in other public venues.
