Mino Bimaadiziiwin: What is means to live well with Creation

November 16 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, Tribal Extension Educator, Charlee Brissette, will be speaking on Mino Bimaadiziiwin and what it means to live well with Creation. The Anishinaabeg have lived in the Mackinac Straits area for thousands of years. They respectfully co-existed with Creation, living seasonally and off the land, and then persevered through hundreds of years of attempted acculturation. Now tribal communities are reclaiming traditions, language, and ceremony by living mino bimaadiziiwin. Charlee will share some history of federal Indian policy that has shaped our world, as well as how tribal communities are now reclaiming space.
