SUMMARY:Author Event- Angeline Boulley
DESCRIPTION:Join Michilimackinac Historical Society and the St. Ignace Public Library in welcoming Angeline Boulley\, NYT Bestseller\, author of Firekeeper’s Daughter. \nFirekeeper’s Daughter is a groundbreaking YA thriller about a Native teen who must root out the corruption in her community.\n  \nAuthor Bio \nAngeline Boulley\, an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians\, is a storyteller who writes about her Ojibwe community in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She is a former Director of the Office of Indian Education at the U.S. Department of Education. Angeline lives in southwest Michigan\, but her home will always be on Sugar Island. Firekeeper’s Daughter is her debut novel. \nIn this riveting novel\, a biracial\, unenrolled tribal member and the product of a scandal\, Daunis Fontaine\, has never quite fit in—both in her hometown and on the nearby Ojibwe reservation. When her family is struck by tragedy\, Daunis puts her dreams on hold to care for her fragile mother. The only bright spot is meeting Jamie\, the charming new recruit on her brother’s hockey team. \nAfter Daunis witnesses a shocking murder that thrusts her into a criminal investigation\, she agrees to go undercover. But the deceptions—and deaths—keep piling up and soon the threat strikes too close to home. How far will she go to protect her community if it means tearing apart the only world she’s ever known?

SUMMARY:Crafternoon- Paper Making
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Crafternoon at the Library where we dive into the art of papermaking. We will experiment with colors\, scents\, flower petals\, and more to create homemade paper. \nWe will take you through the entire process\, and once dry\, you can take home some beautiful\, one-of-a-kind paper. \nWe are keeping our Crafternoon programs small to maintain our COVID-19 safety protocols. Classes are limited to 8 people-exceptions will be made for a guardian/child duo- and registration is required. You can register by calling the library at 906-643-8318. Two dates are available\, May 20 at 5:00 PM or May 27 at 5:00 PM. \nMasks and social distancing are required.
